Information technology company Unisys has announced a new partnership with healthcare company Inspire Health Alliance to support Inspire’s real-time COVID-19 testing, registration and access control program.

Unisys and Inspire Health Alliance Partner on Biometric COVID-19 Screening Solution

Unisys will integrate its Unisys Stealth software and security services as well as systems integration and onsite technical support and field services to help ensure the safety of Inspire’s COVID-19 testing machines and the data they collect.

Unisys Stealth is the company’s biometric identity management solution, capable of authenticating a person’s identity during the testing enrollment process in order to ensure that each test is being administered to the right person. Organizations can also incorporate test results attached to individuals’ identity profiles for physical access control, permitting access to areas based on a clean bill of health.

Inspire’s portable testing machines combine with licensed healthcare administrators to provide COVID-19 antibody and antigen tests, with results available within 15 minutes. The AFIAS Rapid COVID-19 Antibody Test uses blood from a finger prick (as opposed to blood drawn from a needle), and is performed by a clinical technician with nurse assistance.

“COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on people’s health, well-being and economic livelihood,” said Chris Kloes, vice president, Unisys Security Solutions. “Providing near real-time testing is a critical step in an organization’s approach to improve safety as we restart our businesses and schools,” he added.

The announcement comes at a time when the vast majority of the world faces the challenges of reopening society following months of lockdown in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19. Schools and offices are approaching the idea of having students and employees return to indoor settings with extra caution, with biometric authentication and screening emerging as an important tool in the effort to keep people safe.

“Bringing America back to work and school safely requires an effective testing strategy combined with monitoring, timely communication and active engagement of personnel, students and other participants in the community,” said Inspire Health Alliance managing partner, Ricardo A. Salas. “Security and scale are two of the biggest success factors in deploying technology-enabled solutions for workplace or school health and safety,” he added.
